TELEPHONE CONSULTATIONS It is not always necessary for you to visit the surgery and your GP may consider a telephone consultation is appropriate. Please telephone the surgery in the same way as you would to make an appointment to visit, tell the receptionist that you would like to speak with a doctor or nurse on the phone. A doctor or nurse will phone you back.
OUT OF HOURS CALLS When the surgery is closed if you require medical advice you can ring NHS Direct : 08 45 46 47 and they will be able to advise you. Alternatively, if the problem is urgent and you feel you may need to see a healthcare professional, you should ring the Out of Hours Service: 0844 811 3060. You will speak to a healthcare professional who will assess whether you require advice, to attend a Primary Care Centre, or a home visit from a healthcare professional. If the problem is life threatening (eg loss of consciousness, severe chest pain, problems breathing, heavy loss of blood or severe head injuries) you should call 999 and ask for an ambulance in the normal way.
MINOR INJURIES UNIT There is a MINOR INJURIES UNIT at Lymington Hospital, which is open 8am - 9pm every day including weekends and bank holidays. You do not need an appointment, you can just walk in and register at the reception desk. This facility provides for all minor accidents and emergencies but is not a substitute for your own GP's services.
