CONFIDENTIALITY
If you are booking an appointment or collecting test results at the front reception desk and wish to speak privately to the receptionist, there is an adjacent interview room where you can speak privately.

FAMILY PLANNING
Advice is available from all of the Doctors on the various methods of birth control and also on difficulties with conception. Please book an appointment in the usual way.

MATERNITY
Maternity care is shared between the midwife and your Doctor. When you think you might be pregnant, please make an appointment to see your Doctor. Your Doctor will then book you in to the appropriate Hospital for your medical care and arrange for your ante-natal care with the midwife who attends your particular surgery. Your midwife will inform you of the availability of clinics run at your surgery.
Ante-natal appointments with your doctor can be arranged at normal surgery times for your convenience. When booking either ante-natal or post-natal appointments with your Doctor, please state this is the case, so that the appropriate amount of time can be allocated. Hospital births can usually be arranged at Lymington Birthing Unit, Lymington Hospital, the Royal Bournemouth Hospital or the Princess Anne Hospital in Southampton.

CERVICAL SMEARS
Women between ages 25 to 65 should have regular smears. 3yrly between ages of 25-49 and then every 5 yrs thereafter. People under 25yrs who have previously had a smear should continue having one 3 yrly until 49yrs then 5 yrly. Regular Cervical Cytology Clinics are held by a Practice Nurse.

PRACTICE NURSING SISTER
Registered General Nurses assist the Practice with various nursing duties and the running of clinics. They are available for dressings, ear syringing, stitch removal and immunisations. They assist the Doctors with cardiograms and gynaecological procedures. The following clinics are run by a Practice Nursing Sister:
Cervical Cytology, Travel Health, Hypertension, Diabetes, Asthma, Chronic Obstructive Airway Disease and Heart Disease.

REGISTRATION INTERVIEW
When you register with either Practice, you will be offered an interview, usually with a Practice Nurse, who will take details about your medical history, check you blood pressure and take a few measurements to bring your medical records up to date.

COMPLAINTS AND COMMENTS
The Practice aims to provide a high standard of service and medical care to all its patients.

Should you have any comments about the way your treatment has been managed by either doctors or their support staff, you may make them to any member of the Practice team.

However, written complaints should be addressed to the Practice Manager.

INSPECTION OF YOUR NOTES
Members of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Health Authority may be required to inspect patients notes.

The Inspectors are usually medically qualified but not always. They are bound to confidentiality under their contracts.

The purpose is to verify payment claims for treatment given by your Doctor and the staff at the Practice.

If you do not wish your notes to be made available, please let one of the reception staff know and your notes will be marked accordingly.

If you would like to see the details we hold on file for you, a written request should be made to the Practice Manager. A fee may be payable for this service.
