Practice Management

Mrs Jan Lamont Dip PCM

Jan has worked in primary care since 1989 and joined our practice in 2007.  As Practice Manager she is responsible for the smooth running of the two surgeries and heads a comprehensive team of practice nurses, administrators, secretaries and receptionists.  The practice team work hard to provide quality services to our patients.  If you have any concerns regarding our service then please refer to our practice manager in the first instance.

Administration

Becky Higgins - Finance Officer

Becky joined our practice in 2012.  She had previously worked in retail and investment banking.  As our finance office Becky is mainly responsible for processing and reconciling income and expenditure and ensuring that the Practice operates in a profitable and cost-effective manner in keeping with the financial aspirations of the Partners.

Ann Mason B.Sc (Hons) - IT Manager

Ann's background is in software development and engineering management.  Her role in the surgery, since joining in November 2012, has been to support the accuracy of patient electronic records and produce reports on clinical data, both for patient care and surgery funding.  She introduces and supports software tools and methods to improve the efficiency of the surgery and to provide patients with more convenient access to surgery facilities and information, such as online access, the practice website and practice email.  Mel Mendham and Joanna Crouch enthusiastically assist with IT administration.

Reception Supervisor Wistaria

Sally Woods joined the Practice in May 2012.  Sally is responsible for the reception area and assists the team leader with the day to day running of the reception team, ensuring we have adequate staff cover.  Sally can also deal with patient queries, your concerns, suggestions and complaints.

Team Leader Wistaria

Debbie Drodge joined the Practice in November 2011 and was promoted to Team Leader at Wistaria Surgery in 2016.  Her role is to support the partners and the practice manager in the smooth running of the admin team at Wistaria and day to day maintenance issues.  Debbie is also responsible for the GPs' and nurses' appointment diaries and for the long term strategy and daily planning of the admin team workload.  She can also deal with patient queries, your concerns, suggestions and complaints.

Team Leader Milford

Rachel Plumb joined the Practice in August 2013 and was promoted to Team Leader at Milford Medical Centre in 2016.  Her role and responsibilities are very similar to Debbie's at Wistaria and they work very closely together with the partners and the practice manager to ensure the smooth running of both surgeries.  Rachel can also deal with patient queries, your concerns, suggestions and complaints.  She is supported by one of our long standing members of staff Jan Coombe who deals with appointment templates and general patient recall.

Reception

Receptionists provide an important link for patients with the practice and are your initial contact point for general enquiries.  They can provide basic information on services and results and direct you to the right person depending on your health issue or query.  Receptionists make most of the patient appointments with the GPs and nurses; they may suggest a telephone or eConsult appointment rather than a face to face appointment with our GPs.  They also perform other important tasks such as giving details or recent test results and messages from our GPs, issuing repeat prescriptions and dealing with prescription enquiries.

Secretaries

If your doctor is in surgery seeing patients and you have a query, please ask to speak to our secretarial team as they may be able to assist you or will ring you back later with the information you require.  As well as dealing with referrals to secondary care they can also help you with general enquiries regarding medical reports, financial claims and will deal with patient requests to review their medical records.

Care Navigator

Clare Richardson is our Care Navigator, who some of you may have already met.  Clare joined our team in October and looks after both Wistaria and Milford patients.  Her role is to provide a single point of access for patients and/or carer concerns, usually for the elderly and she can help access required services and signpost relevant information.

By assisting you to access health, social and community services your Care Navigator aims to help you maintain your independence and safety at home, avoiding hospital admissions. You can contact Clare directly, so if you have recently been in hospital or have any queries about your ongoing care or how to stay safe and independent at home please contact her on 07788 716952.

Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist

Helen Plumb also joined us in the autumn and she too works over both sites.  This is a trial post being funded by Better Local Care and the West Hampshire CCG.

Helen’s role includes medication reviews for patients on multiple medications and the frail elderly, drug monitoring and cost saving, quality and safety interventions. She will be working together with community and hospital pharmacists and GPs to improve the health and care of elderly patients.  As well as helping patients it is hoped that this role will take some pressure off GPs, freeing up their valuable time.
